Just about 2 hours outside of Dallas, TX, is the small town of Paris. It is a fairly small town and it feels especially small on a Sunday afternoon, like when I visited with my friend.
The streets were bare and there were only a couple of other people on the streets. It became obvious very quickly that most of the town was in one of the few churches in town. I think that really adds to the small-town feel.
We got into town just shortly before noon and drove around the square. There was a cute little set up with a pumpkin display and it was decorated for fall. We walked around for a bit, saw some cool murals, went window shopping (because most of the stores were closed), and then walked over to the local diner.
We went to Aunt Mary's Cafe and were seated at our table. It was mostly filled with locals who had probably just gotten out of church, and I'm sure it was apparent that we weren't from around there. I ordered the breakfast chicken fried steak (which was only $10) and it was really good! And they even give everyone free dessert! Highly recommend if you are ever in Paris.
After the meal, we went to go see what we came for, the Eiffel Tower. However, this is not just any Eiffel Tower, this one truly belongs in Texas. It is decorated with a massive red cowboy hat on the top! Of course, we had to take pictures.
Before leaving, we also ran into my college RA and her parents. What an obscure place to run into someone. We then hit the road and made one final Buccees stop on the way back to Dallas.
So, go for the adventure, stay for the tower, and never forget to dillydally!
