Viva Fiesta!

Every year San Antonio puts on a massive, month-long celebration that originally started to honor the heroes of the Alamo. Because Fiesta couldn't happen in 2020, it was postponed to June this year, and we got to participate in the Texas Cavalier's River Parade.

I have been in the river parade for the past 8 years and performed in it for the past 4 years. I was a member of The Children of the Republic of Texas, before transferring to The Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

The river is lined with spectators and we have a lot of fun smiling, dancing, waving, and saying "viva fiesta."

Each year The Children of the Republic of Texas have a float in the Texas Cavaliers' River Parade. This year the theme of the parade was 2020 Vision. Our floats theme was Vision of Rock and Rool. So we ended up doing a 50s rock and roll theme.

Each float has a Texas Cavalier that rides with us.

I sang a range of songs as we floated down the river. As we entered the Artisan River theatre, where we are televised, I sang "Twist and Shout."

This year was especially special because my mom got to ride with us. This was the first year that she got to actually be in the parade. Usually, she runs along the river with a camera taking pictures of the float. But this year she got to take pictures from the float itself!

So go for the adventure, stay for the Fiesta, and never forget to dillydally!
